All the best bargains are in the market!

I've been a market trader for the past 4 years and I have to say I have loved every minute. When I decided to open a business, shops were too expensive so I opted for a stall in our local Market Hall. I soon realised that its not just a market its collection of fun, friendly traders trying to earn a living, whilst giving a warm friendly service. I was instantly hooked as I'd listen to the tales of some traders who have been on the market for over 50 years of how bustling and busy the market used to be. Business soon boomed and I eventually moved to a bigger stall to incorporate my ever growing range of Fascinators and fashion accessories. After starting the Market Face book page I suddenly realised how many people didn't support their local market. I decided to make it my mission to promote the market in true Andrea style!.. I was amazed how the first thing people looked for when they went abroad was the local market!! yet they have never stepped foot in there own local market...Why I wonder? You can still get the same value for money and friendly service you get from any other market and all of the traders are local people, yet about half of Barrovians have never called in to have a look. This amazed me so I began to ask people what they thought. Most people said they can get most things from there local superstore, this is probably true in most parts, but do you really get that friendly personal service that you get from your local market trader, and would Tesco or Asda knock off 10% for regular customers just to show how appreciated they are?.. No I don't suppose they would.. On a Saturday we get lots of children in the market spending their pocket money, so why is it that adults don't support it?? Maybe snobbery or laziness or maybe they have just never had the time to call in and take a look! Whatever the excuse, like in so many towns if we don't support the markets we will loose it... We are a market town and should be proud of it! With over 60 Stalls to look round you can find everything from Haberdashery, underwear, cards, balloons, jewellery, hoovers, childrens wear, occasion wear, material, meats, fish, wool, Fascinators, Tiara's and much much more.. So come on people, call in and take a look round your local market, you'll be amazed and impressed with the range of products and the fabulous service you receive. I'd love to hear your comments on this and look forward to seeing you in the Market very soon.
